Primary voting dates

Election Day: Tuesday, August 4, 2026 · 7 a.m.–8 p.m.
Early voting: July 25–August 2, 2026
Online/mail registration deadline: July 20, 2026
In-person clerk registration remained available through 8 p.m. Election Day.

How the partisan primary worked

Voters selected candidates in either the Democratic or Republican partisan section, not both. Nonpartisan races and proposals remained available to every eligible voter.

Governor field

Democratic: Jocelyn Benson; Christopher “Chris” Swanson.

Republican: John James; Perry Johnson; Mike Cox; Aric Nesbitt. Pre-election materials noted that Cox and Nesbitt had suspended their campaigns while their names remained on the ballot.

U.S. Senate field

Democratic: Abdul El-Sayed; Haley Stevens; Mallory McMorrow. Pre-election materials noted that McMorrow had suspended her campaign while her name remained on the ballot.

Republican: Mike Rogers.

Local proposals highlighted

Wayne County Transit Authority millage: up to 0.9831 mills for ten years. DPSCD Proposal S: up to 18 mills on non-homestead property for general operations from 2026–2045, with the stated Headlee adjustment allowance.
